Dominic Dromgoole, the former Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe, initiated and directed the grant cultural event, Globe to Globe Festival in the London Shakespeare's Globe, which hosted prestigious companies from 37 different countries to present Shakespeare’s plays, each in their own language without 6 weeks. He is invited to have a conversation with Tang Shu-wing, the Founder and Artistic Director of HKISF to talk about what Shakespeare really is and why and how he is related to contemporary international cultural exchange.

Dominic Dromgoole
Director, producer and author, Dominic was Artistic Director of the Globe Theatre in London from 2006-2016, and more recently the artistic director of Classic Spring Theatre Company, and director of Open Palm Film Company. During lockdown he directed a lockdown concert in the Coliseum - Song For Nature - for Sky Arts. In 2023, he wrote and produced a documentary, Will's Book, on the creation of Shakespeare's First Folio for Sky. He has recently directed shows in China, Spain, and London. Dominic is the author of The Full Room: An A-Z of Contemporary Playwriting (Methuen 2000), Will and Me: How Shakespeare Took Over My Life (Penguin 2006), which won the inaugural Sheridan Morley award; Hamlet, Globe to Globe Canongate in 2017); and the recently published Astonish Me for Profile. 

Tang Shu-wing
Theatre director and educator, Founder and Artistic Director of Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio and former Dean of the School of Drama of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Tang Shu-wing is regarded as one of the most influential theatre directors in Hong Kong. Graduated from the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris with a Master Degree in Theatre Studies, he also received actor training at l’Ecole de la Belle de Mai. He used to go to India to experience spiritual formation. His works are more than 60, and the more famous ones such as Titus Andronicus, Titus Andronicus 2.0, Macbeth, Detention and Thunderstorm and King Lear have been staged in many international arts festivals. “Minimalist aesthetics and the Body” that Tang advocated has become a brand of contemporary theatre in Hong Kong. In 2019, the Studio is named an "Eminent Arts Group" by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Tang's publications, Analysis and Reflections on the Theories of Acting of Meyerhold, Titus Andronicus — Approach in Minimalistic Aesthetics & Physical Theatre, Detention — Out of Curiosity and The Three levels of ABC – Reflections on Acting and Directing. 

Cheung Ngar Lai, Annie
A Hong Kong actress. Graduated from the Drama School of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and later completed a MA in Performance (Acting) with Distinction at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London. Currently the Associate Professor of Practice at the Academy of Film of the Hong Kong Baptist University. A former full-time actress at the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and a former artiste at HKTV with over 50 credits in theatre and screen productions. Nominated for the Best Supporting Actress at the 22nd Hong Kong Drama Awards for her performance as Mrs. Muller in Doubt: A Parable; nominated for Performer of the Year 2022 by International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong) and the Outstanding Lead Actress at the 14th Hong Kong Theatre Libre for her first self-penned solo performance in DOTS. Recently starred as the female lead in  Loveless Romance, a drama written and directed by the local veteran actor-playwright-director Mr. Cheung Tat-ming; and in The Plague, both produced by the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2023 and 2021 respectively.
